French Travel Sketches
I've
traveled
a good deal
about
the world. I usually like to have something with me to do an
occasional
watercolor or drawing. Most times I carry my watercolor box in my
shirt
pocket and a small 6" x 9" sketchbook of good quality watercolor
paper.
If I know that I will have more than 20 minutes I will bring my
briefcase
size kit. In this I can carry a full-size John Pike watercolor
palette,
a 9"(or 10") x 12" sketchbook, a flat plastic container of brushes,
pencils,
erasers, a small bottle of water and extra paint. I carry a
collapsible pot for water and a long string. The string is for
tying to the pot
so I can retrive the water in the canal or stream without climbing down
the
bank. My emergency liquid is
white
wine in case there's no water (I'm really hurting if I don't have any
white or red wine, I then might have to stop painting).
When
sketching outdoors it
is a good idea to have
sunscreen,
a good "cool" hat and sun glasses.
